The Alliance of Iraqi Minorities Network (AIM) was established in November 2010 as a coalition of 28 locally-based organizations within Iraq. Its primary objective is to improve the situation of Iraqi minorities by advocating for equality, and non-discrimination, preservation of the Iraqi minorities’ identity and existence, and ensuring their active participation in socio-political spheres.
AIM’s actions encompass the implementation of various programs, including legal protection, capacity building, awareness raising, Monitoring and Observation of minority situations, and addressing human rights recommendations through the preparation of Universal Periodic Review (UPR) reports, as well as livelihood support.
AIM’s commitment to inclusivity is evident in its representation of 14 ethno-religious Iraqi minority groups and an advisory body consisting of 71 members from varied backgrounds. This advisory body encompasses parliamentarians, ministers, provincial council members, minority representatives, minority rights experts, religious leaders, and journalists who are geographically distributed across different regions in Iraq.
The Alliance of Iraqi Minorities Network (AIM) serves as a pivotal force in addressing the challenges faced by Iraqi minorities, engaging in a multitude of initiatives to promote their rights, advocate for their needs, and collaborate with national and international stakeholders to effect positive change.
