ACHRS, a regional think tank for human rights, has been established in 2000. ACHRS’ priorities are six key human rights issues. The right to life, which focuses against the death penalty. The right to think, which focuses on academic freedoms in the universities. The right to opinion and expression, which focuses on the role of media professionals in promoting human rights. The right to participation and focuses on various issues of elections. Women’s rights, which focuses on empowering women’s leadership skills. Lastly, social protection, which focuses on rights of persons with disability.
Additionally, ACHRS have had the seventh priority on interns’ program by receiving 270 interns from 32 countries since 2004.
ACHRS have the consultative status with UN ECOSOC since 2006, and honorary with the UN Human rights prize for 2023.
